Faultline - 'Your Love Means Everything' (EMI)

3/5

By: Matt Tomiak

Faultline - 'Your Love Means Everything'A troupe of A-list guests (REM's Michael Stipe, Coldplay's Chris Martin and

The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne) lend their vocal talents to London DJ David

Kosten's second solo album.

Hell, even Nick McCabe pops up here. As such, the spaced-out atmospherics and melancholy lyrical themes are granted an unusually enticing slant, with all the big names coming up trumps: Wayne doing his patented wide-eyed, little-boy-lost sparkling l'il thing on the rueful yet very excellent 'The Colossal Gray Sun'; Mike S laments the destruction of nature to striking effect on the ghostly 'Greenfields'; whilst Chris sounds world-weary as ever in 'Where Is My Boy' (musically, a return to the sparser climes of Coldplay's debut 'Parachutes').

There is the occasional mis-fire, though - the clumsy 'Biting Tongues' is oddly reminiscent of Goldie Lookin' Chain's comedy effort 'Half Man Half Robot', but overall 'Your Love Means Everything' is an effective exercise in celebrity-endorsed ambient craft.
