It's really quite disenchanting when you realise you've hit the age at which trendy Channel 4 shows about sexy kids taking drugs and being urban know more about new music than you. As misfitting as this is to someone who tells girls in clubs he's a 'music journalist' (if you missed the pun there you're definitely not female and under 16 and definitely off my list of people to talk to in a club) ‘Innocence’ is such a ball-banging tune that any such pride must be totally swallowed.
Whilst comparisons to similar crossover successes like Chase and Status is inevitable, Nero share more of a palette with the beat-y Hudson Mohawke. ‘Innocence’ is alarmingly simple, but features a drop that will make you do a happy dirty protest wherever you are. Music to play loud and freak out to.
