It’s been just one year since Los Campesinos!’s (punctuation nightmare) last album Romance is Boring and they’re already gearing up for the release of their next one, barely leaving themselves time to enjoy their favourite hobbies of advertising Budweiser and *insert Welsh stereotype*.
‘By Your Hand’ is being offered as a free download ahead of the album, and it doesn’t hold anything back, realising that it isn’t worth messing about with rubbish verses at the beginning of songs and instead launching into a catchy chorus that all the kids can sing at the gigs.
Aside from the chorus, the bits that come in between are pretty inconspicuous, and barely worth hearing to be honest, but a song that was all chorus would just be silly, and would probably end up sounding more like The Wombats than the band would like.
Los Campesinos!’s prolific rate at which they’ve been putting out music for the last three years is admirable, but by the sounds of this track they could do with having a break, maybe enjoy a lovely American beer, and give themselves time to be a bit more considered when it comes to song writing.
