Bos Angeles - Days of Youth (Round Table)

Even though their name makes them sound like a crap pop-rap band, Bos Angeles feed off the same kind of sunshine that fuels the likes of Real Estate and Surfer Blood.
Despite the similarity, however, ‘Days of Youth’ is more than just a rip-off of what has gone before. The guitars are definitely set to ‘surf’, but there’s no added sugar to make the track sickly sweet, with the verses instead taking on a vaguely shoegaze-y feel, with downcast vocals and sliding guitars.
The band certainly aren’t doing anything that original, but it’s pulled off with a panache that makes the lack of invention forgivable, and paves the way for them to record an album that I for one will be getting very excited about.
