Colour Of Fire - 'Pearl Necklace' (Riverman)
2/5

All too often perfectly solid and decent chimes fall by the wayside, due to less than captivating vocals. If you ever crave a combination of the driving, melodic guitar, but get frustrated by listening to screaming testosterone, try Leeds' latest heroes, Colour of Fire.
Over the course of their debut 'Pearl Necklace', lead singer Owen Richards' voice ranges from the pop sensitivity of The Stills' Tim Fletcher, to Matt Bellamy (without operatic vibrato), to outright, gnawing angst.
Standout tunes thus, behind such blarings, are 'The Exile', with its emotionally enunciated inf(l)ection, and the metallic blast of 'Robot Rock', but unfortunately that's about it. Colour of Fire could easily fill stadiums with their fervent 'fire inside' ethic, but that doesn't mean for now that HMV needs another 'melodic rock' album with eleven tracks on it.
