Various Acts - 'Joyfest - The Album' (Self-Released)
3/5
By: Clara Burtenshaw
The CD accompanying this inspired, but poorly attended festival will remind those who actually went of the cream of our nation/capital's budding musical crop.
Highlights include the idiosyncratic Ludes, who singularly provide the most
original, moody and macabre material - elsewhere: The Boyfriends, a cross between Pulp and Joy Division (who, along with The Rakes, continue to exhume the voice of Ian Curtis in their frontman) and rising scamps Special Needs aren't bad either.
