Jake Dunkley catches Wild Beasts, Mogwai, The Walkmen, Lykke Li, Best Coast, Beirut, Kurt Vile, Laura Marling and John Grant in an idyllic Dorset forest.  Come to think of it, that really is quite a line up isn’t it.

Green Man Festival - Glasnuck Park, Brecon Beacons – 19-21/8/11

Pearson, Fleet Foxes, Squarepusher and more reviewed herein), the fantastic food, the crowd of genuine music fans, friendly staff, local ales, late night entertainment, clean toilets, great sound, ritualistic pagan burning of giant wooden men etc., Green Man is an all-round winner, and it’s no wonder that it’s the bands’, and my, all-time favourite...”

The Apple Cart Festival - Victoria Park, London – 7/8/11

In its mix of big name comedy (Tim Minchin, Marcus Brigstocke) with some of the most memorable players in credible nineties pop (Soul II Soul, Saint Etienne) and a few younger scamps like Patrick Wolf thrown in for good measure, the inaugural Apple Cart festival couldn’t have been much more different in vibe from the preceding afternoon’s Field Day Festival, held on the same site.

Field Day – Victoria Park, London – 6/8/11

‘Twas a day on which seemingly every person in London with a vague interest in alternative music gathered on a big lawn to drink beer and watch some of it, with the Rockfeedback scribes catching James Blake, Connan Mockasin,  Jamie Woon, Zola Jesus, Electrelane, The Horrors and Wild Beasts in between bar runs.
