A global coming together of notable proportions here, we were delighted to recently welcome Swiss-based New Zealander Steve Abel to London for a special Rockfeedback “in-session” performance at our Lexington home. Famed for his quiet, yet intense, un-contrived and beautiful song-writing (alongside his equally notable environmental activism) this piece sees a wonderfully intimate performance of three songs solo, including a chat with Steve about the nature of his life and music.

Rockfeedback returns to the Underage Festival for the third year running, witnessing the likes of the Mystery Jets, Ladyhawke, the Horrors, Tinchy Stryder, Hadouken!, Good Shoes, The Whip, Rolo Tomassi, JME, Patrick Wolf and The Champman Family as they stir a bunch of tirelessly enthusiastic fourteen to eighteen year olds in to a veritable frenzy. Interviews, live sets, circle pits – we’ve got the lot.

"Couples wandered, soggy but happy, among the trees; the children's play area resounded with the tingling of rainwater on monkey bars; high-rises stood stark against the unchanging sky. However, walk on for about 5 minutes and you begin to hear noise - a distant throb at first, growing louder and higher-pitched with each step...." so said our youthful (15 years of age) reviewer all those years ago. If you're over 18 this is your only chance to see such brilliance. Observe.

What kind of mental imagery does the word 'Festival' inspire in you? Stale, overpriced beer? Overweight, hairy shirtless old rockers rubbing their sweaty pits on your shoulders? Three years ago Eat Your Own Ears man Tom Baker decided to eschew traditional festival alcohol-company-pandering and create London's first Under-18s only festival. And we were there to film it. Boom.

London’s Field Day Festival really came in to its own in its third year, and though the grin-and-bear-it attitude to the torrential rain had a charming Englishness to it, the line up was thrillingly cosmopolitan. We capture live and interview the likes of Malian kora mastermind Toumani Diabate, Swedish sisters First Aid Kit performing an exclusive acoustic duet with Fanfarlo, some mental punk jazz courtesy of Norway’s The Thing, Final Fantasy from over the pond, and headliners Mogwai, who we’re surprised to learn Rockfeedback TV had a hand in booking. Erm, what? Find out herein...

Having ironed out the few problems which beset the first outing, Field Day 08 was the perfect balance of beer and incredible music (we won't mention the weather). With exclusive On Location performances from Noah and the Whale and Fionn Regan, as well as catching the likes of Tunng, Simian Mobile Disco and Of Montreal on stage. Check it.

With a sizeable slice of Absentee kicking off, Foals providing a good old 174bpm knees up, Bat for Lashes manning the psych-pop machine, and French kings of electro-noise Justice wrapping the proceedings up with a speaker-tearing squeal of a set, the inaugural Field Day made a pretty healthy impression. The only thing that could have made it any better would be some backstage chat with math-y pioneers and on-camera comedy geniuses Battles. Oh, we have that too? Perfect.

Appearing as part of Nomad and Qu Junktions' peculiar but brilliant A Ritual For Elephant and Castle evening, Swedish duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums took not to the stage but to the floor of the Coronet in south London for a unique performance in which drummer Andreas Werliin was joined by an additional twenty percussionists acting as backing to the lone, incredible voice of Mariam Wallentin. Here, in a Rockfeedback special, we present to you both an interview with one of alternative rock’s most fascinating couples, and the one off set in its entirety.

Spring 2009, and Rockfeedback found what’s probably our new favourite festival. Primavera Sound combines not only some of the most idyllic scenery of any festival site we’ve been to (it’s set on the beautiful Barcelona coast), but also one of the finest line ups we’ve yet to gawp in amazement at. We caught incendiary sets and talks with the likes of headliners Sonic Youth, Lightning Bolt’s first ever attempt at playing on a stage instead of a crowd, Deerhunter at the very moment they seemed to go massive on continental Europe, Dan Deacon’s insane crowd participation exercises, St. Etienne’s comparative suave cool and time with everyone from Throwing Muses and Vivian Girls to the Mae Shi to boot. All of the artists seemed to love the festival as much as we did – truly, what’s not to dig? – which makes for a continual vibe of both good times and artistic prowess.

It was possibly our stupidest idea yet - invite Future of the Left back to our house after a headline performance at the 2008 Camden Crawl and get them to play a set in our living room. What's more, we thought we'd put together a support bill consisting of Soko, Jeremy Warmsley and Shinghai Shoniwa of The Noisettes, meaning that the line up for our living room gig actually began to rival some of the stages at the actual Crawl itself. The floor nearly caved in, the police shut us down, the council gave us a massive fine... no regrets.

Rockfeedback were invited up to Glasgow for the inaugural Hinterland Festival - and of course we jumped at the chance. A gruelling 11 hour round trip on the moving pub we called a train and a wet start to the Scottish summer were more than made up for by the amazing music we beheld. Herein lie the highlights - delve deeper into the site to find the complete performances.
Watch this is you like: Fanfarlo / good live music / Sky Larkin / glasgow city / Your Twenties / deep fried pizza / Orphans and Vandals / underground warehouse venues / Copy Haho / acoustic sessions underneath railway bridges / Dan Black / nice n sleazy's / Sons and Daughters / venues you can't stand up in (subclub) / Two Door Cinema Club / venues you can't see the roofs of (the arches) / Slow Club / stupidly long lists / Edie Sedgwick.
