Slow Club - On Location @ Hinterland 2009

(14.08.09)

Rockfeedback reveals a few sides to the adorable Slow Club across these live performances and interview - we catch them everywhere from on stage at Glasgow's Arches, rocking out to their hearts content, to sitting in the back of a van we had to literally carry to safety where they perform acoustically for us, half sheltering from the rain, as part of the Hinterland Festival.

Fionn Regan - On Location @ Field Day 2008

(20.07.10)

Wonderfully tortured creative souls seem to pop-up in the world of folk all the time, but this hauntingly beautiful on-location performance of an unreleased song from Fionn Regan backstage at Field Day festival still makes the hairs on our neck stand up at its very thought. Regan is a fantastically interesting and compelling artist, this exclusive track like this still ranks up there with some of our favourite on location sessions Rockfeedback cameras have been lucky enough to shoot.

Bella Union Showcase - On Location @ The London Eye

(12.07.10)

"It's a simple concept really. you get a lot of folk music, and i mean a lot, you get a pretty massive tourist attraction on the South Bank -the London Eye - and you basically get everyone together and one by one get in a pod, I think thats what they're called, and go round looking at London, playing some songs and having a bit of a chat" (Toby L). So thats what we did. More specifically our good friends at Bella Union asked us to help showcase some of their acts,Ohbijou, The Acorn, My Latest Novel and The Low Anthem.

Freelance Whales - On Location @ SXSW 2010

(09.06.10)

Busking is the new black, or something. Like Rockfeedback favourite Marques Toliver, Freelance Whales formed after a period performing on New York's streets and subways, including the Bedford Avenue L train platform where Toliver used to tout his soul-troubadour wares. Coincidence? We filmed them playing on a proper stage at SXSW this year. Well, it wasn’t really a stage, strictly.

Fyfe Dangerfield - On Location @ SXSW 2010

(07.06.10)

With a name as brilliant as Fyfe Dangerfield it was inevitable that this talented young fellow would decide to leave his Guillemots days behind him for some time and showcase his own awesome moniker. We caught him at this years SXSW festival, invited him to the front room of the Austin Folk House, stripped him naked (musically) like an unvarnished dining table and let him perform a delicate set of strings-backed love songs, just for us. And you as well. Obvs.

Two Gallants - On Location @ SXSW 2008

(09.12.09)

Two Gallants have been wooing us for a while with their sublime mix of punk, country and folk. Rockfeedback were blessed with an exclusive performance and interview from the San Fran indie kids in a hot Austin car park at SXSW.

Sky Larkin - On Location @ Hinterland 2009

(25.11.09)

More used to rocking out than kicking back, Sky Larkin thrive in a more stripped back session, performing a rare, exclusive acoustic set and chatting to Rockfeedback at Glasgow's inaugural Hinterland Festival.

Noah & The Whale - On Location @ Field Day 2008

(30.09.09)

Rockfeedback caught up with Noah and the Whale at London’s Field Day festival back in 2008. We filmed both their on stage performance proper as well as a breathtaking acoustic performance backstage, in a Gibson trailer of all places.  Grown men cried.

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson - On Location @ SXSW 2009

(23.09.09)

He’s made a fan of everyone from TV On The Radio to Grizzly Bear, and gosh darn it, he’s made a fan of us too.  Miles’ gritty, gutsy vocals deliver brazenly honest songs that dissect huge themes in the prettiest of terms, made all the more beautiful by this riverside setting for an exclusive acoustic performance at SXSW in Austin, Texas.  Miles grants us a chat too, as he’s nice like that.

Fanfarlo & First Aid Kit - On Location @ Field Day 2009

(09.09.09)

Mutual admirers Fanfarlo and First Aid Kit might have only actually met moments before we started rolling, but this charming acoustic duet (a cover of Devendra Banhart's 'This is the Way'), is still pretty much note perfect.  Filmed in a rare moment of sunshine in Victoria Park, outside the gates of the Field Day Festival 2009.

“This is what happened the first time Fanfarlo and First Aid Kit actually met. It was in the morning, at Field Day in Victoria Park. We'd been talking on emails and on the phone about going on tour together but we hadn't actually met. The day before, we spoke about Devendra Banhart cause this idea about doing a cover together had been floating about, so before we know it, we're going through a more or less a capella cover of "This Is The Way" in front of a camera (which sadly didn't capture the ridiculous dancing going on behind it.)” – Simon, Fanfarlo

Andrew Bird - On Location @ SXSW 2009

(21.08.09)

Rockfeedback caught up with Bella Union songsmith Andrew Bird for an exclusive acoustic session whilst out in Austin, Texas, for the SXSW music conference in March. He delicately bowed his violin, stroked his guitar strings and sang like a freakin' angel for us, all bathed in beautiful Texan sunshine. A frank and honest chat only endeared him to us further.

Peggy Sue - On Location @ Camden Crawl 2009

(19.08.09)

London-based folk-pop group Peggy Sue have been causing quite a stir over the last few months, but we've been onto these guys for a while such that they're now firm rockfeedback faves. Liking them so much we decided to take them into the middle of a council estate in Camden and make them play a few songs for us acoustically. That's how we tell bands we like 'em, aren't we nice? The results left us scooping our jaws off the playground tarmac and swinging wildly from the kids' swings nearby. Lovely stuff.
