Talking about, amongst other things, how Rockfeedback were the direct reason they decided to play at Field Day 2009 (receive no wrong impressions – we're pretty proud about that fact!), Mogwai perform a bewildering, stunning set to Victoria Park, and chat to us in a tipi backstage. Yes, we felt pretty blissed out throughout...

Originally from Leeds and now living it up in London, this dance-punk, new wave 5 piece band mix big, dark beats, drum’n’bass synths and ripped speaker guitars delivered faster and harder than a FedEx order of paving slabs. A perfect musical backdrop for Victoria Park’s 2009 Underage festival.

Art-rock, post hardcore influenced New York band Les Savy Fav are probably one of the most underrated live bands doing the rounds right now. Fact. Shameless, shirtless frontman Tim Harrington stalks the stage, looking and acting like Iggy Pop after a heavy decade on the carbs while the rest of the band bluster out a distorted, melodic mess of angular bass and bum-rush guitars. We have a little natter with the band backstage at Victoria Park's Field Day festival, in 2008.

The bastard child of Bob Dylan and David Lynch, Jeffrey Lewis writes surrealist stories about creeping animated brains, the beginning of the Soviet Union and being banned from The Roxy (though to be fair, that's a Crass cover), accompanies them with illustrations and somehow manages to be one of the most un-pretentious artists that we’ve ever met. Catch this fellow's unquantifiable performance at the eponymous industry love-in, SXSW in 2008.

Here joined by his large “ensemble”, Dan Deacon is nothing short of a wonder to behold at his live shows. This festival highlight at Spain’s Primavera is a clear testament why - getting into the crowd and embracing the crowd as a crucial point of the joyous, uplifting electronica he produces. After we found a brief second to try and wipe the smiles off our faces from watching his set, we quickly put them right back on as we chatted to a charming Mr. Deacon about the pleasures of performing and ensuring that his gear doesn't get broken during gigs.

The Futureheads don’t play places as cosy as London’s Lexington often, meaning that when they do, it’s even more of a treat – this one off show was in the calendar to showcase to the most in-the-know fans some tracks from a forthcoming, fourth LP that promises some pretty exciting things. After the show, we grab Barry and Ross from the band for a stairway chat about Oliver Reed, Elton John, George Michael and Johan Sebastian Bach.

Lead by the beguiling Sian Ahern (nobody’s quite sure who ‘Alice’ is), the Sian Alice Group make brooding, unnerving and spooky rock and roll in which to get completely lost – exactly what this audience at this Rockfeedback club night found themselves doing, whether intentionally or not, when they played for us in May of 2009. The band discuss the night’s performance and music in general with Michael Lewin afterwards.

Playing a set of deranged, noisy rock, London-based drums and guitar duo Friendship appear here at a Rockfeedback club night. Mashing chirpy guitar lines with frenetic beats, distorted chords and Gregorian monks chanting through the mouths of dying robots (one of these descriptions is not true), the band play a beatifically bewildering show to a crowd of willing punters, and chat us through the nature of their work in a post-gig interview.

Fed-up of being asked to define his mid-90’s sunshine hip-hop influenced grooves, Sargent Garcia (or Sargento Garcia as he’s known across Latin America) dropped a colloquial language bomb, choosing to grandiosely title it “Salsa-muffin”. Confused? You need not be. Just sit back, and relax to some grin-inducing Hispanic Hip-Hop, filmed at InMusic festival. In Croatia of all places.

First Aid Kit are Klara and Johanna Söderberg, a duo of sisters from Sweden. They perform on stage at a Rockfeedback club night at The Lexington, performing songs from their 5/5 RFB-rated debut album, and a Fleet Foxes cover.

A strong part of a New York scene that exploded in 2009, bringing us the likes of Crystal Stilts, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Woods and many more, Brooklyn’s Vivian Girls have been bringing their new wave no-fi garage rock assault globally to a fast-increasing fanbase. Here we catch them live at a sunshine-filled Primavera Sound festival in Spain, and grab 'em after as they reveal themselves as pure fan-girls, delighted to be sharing a bill with so many of their musical heroes and friends.

Experimental techno is one of those genres that seems to be open to vast amounts of re-interpretation. Animal Collective have fiddled with it, Bjork has flirted with it, and now Owl Project have completely turned it on it’s beaty head. Rockfeedback filmed the art, music and woodwork(?) collective dragging the genre into new, organic pastures via a mesmerising installation piece at Concrete and Glass Festival. This is an absolute must see.
