Response to: Wive – PVLL (Exile On Mainstream)

I found Wive by accident. Their music drew me in and I find it kind of haunting in a way. I am 44 and have over 20,000 songs in my collection ranging from Krautrock, bluegrass, Eno, Hardcore, and everything inbetween. I think albums like this need to be thought of in the context of the environment that they will be listened in. Would I listen to this at a Bar B Que? No, I would probably throw on The Foo FIghters or something like that...but I wouldn't throw on Sigur Ros or Radiohead at a Bar B Que either. To me this is rainy day music...or quiet contemplative music...when I am feeling meloncholy. Music shouldn't just fit into one aspect of your lifes moods...when you're feeling up there is music for that and when you're feeling down there's music for that...when your in an odd mood...there is Wive.
I love this record and feel that the reviewer isn't judging the music for what it is, what it does, and where it goes...I feel he is judging it for where he would have liked to see it go. It fails to go where he wants it to...it succeeds in going where IT wants to go...and I like where it went, and where it took me.
